WILDERNESS

Jesus was sent by the Spirit into the wilderness for 40 days, where he was tempted by Satan (Mark 1:12-13). The whole time no matter what He faced, He did not sin, but instead, stood firm on the word of God. He has given us the perfect example of what to do when we are placed in difficult and uncomfortable, testing times.

“God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it” (1 Corinthians‬ ‭10:13 WEB‬).

What does this verse tell me?

(1) God is faithful

(2) In His not letting us be tempted beyond what we can bear, shows He is in control!

(3) He knows what we are able to bear. Our capability to endure, is our capability as we rely on Him, not our capability as we rely on ourselves

(4) He provides a way out, but we still must choose it because it’s not forced on us

(5) The way of escape doesn’t necessarily mean that the temptation is no longer there, but we are provided a way to be able to endure it

We are never without God’s grace! He meets us even in the wilderness. Stand firm on His word and choose His way. Take refuge in Him, where you will be able to find His peace and joy in the midst of trouble.
