THINGS ABOVE

“Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are on the earth.” (Colossians‬ ‭3:2 WEB‬).

Christian lives should be lived with minds and hearts turned toward God. Our mindset and behavior shouldn’t be the same as the culture around us, but instead, should be seeking and fixed on things above. We physically live in this broken world, but our lives are now hidden with Christ in God (Colossians 3:3). God empowers us to be able to live in this world, yet not of it, so we can say no to the things that will pull us away from Him. We can experience trouble in this world and still have peace being in Christ, knowing that we belong to the One who overcame the world, and that “all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose” (Romans‬ ‭8:28 WEB‬).

May our yearning be for our heavenly home and the way that we live, be evidence that we are His, a new creation, being guided and shaped not by the standards of the world but by the truths from above. I pray that I spend my days with eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of my faith and my eternal reward.
