MOVE MOUNTAINS
In Matthew 17, Jesus’ disciples were unable to cast out a demon from a boy. When they asked Jesus why they couldn’t do it, “He said to them, “Because of your unbelief. For most certainly I tell you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.”” (Matthew 17:20 WEB)
The disciples inability to cast out the demon was due to their unbelief. They lacked faith. When Jesus said that faith as small as a mustard seed can move mountains, He was saying that even a small amount of faith can accomplish great things. What’s important is not how much faith we have, but what or WHO we place our faith in (the object of our faith). Great accomplishment can come from a small amount of faith IF, that small amount of faith is placed in our great and mighty God.
If you’re facing a mountain, put your trust in God, the One who is sovereign and has complete authority over all things. No mountain is too high, because the mountains “melt like wax at the presence of the LORD” (Psalms 97:5 WEB). Although something may seem impossible to us, nothing is impossible with God. He is able! And He is “able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think” (Ephesians 3:20 WEB). I find the greatest comfort and joy in this because that’s the God to whom I belong, to Him be glory for ever!
